What is Crowdfunding?
At the University of Oklahoma Foundation, our crowdfunding initiative is called Thousands Strong, because we believe in the power of the OU community coming together to create meaningful impact. Whether you're raising money for new equipment, travel expenses, scholarships, or a special project, Thousands Strong helps you turn momentum into impact—by engaging hundreds or even thousands of supporters to reach your goal.
Creating Your Campaign

- Defined audience
- Detailed communication strategy

Messaging - Use the toolkit below to create your communications and content.
Messaging should be consistant and answer these questions:
- What’s the purpose of your campaign?
- Who will benefit and how?
- What makes this project unique, urgent, or impactful?
Tips for a Strong Ask
- Keep it short and personal
- Be specific about what the donation supports
- Always include a clear link and deadline
Campaign Timeline & Checklist
Pre-Launch (2–3 weeks before):
-Submit campaign application
-Finalize campaign content (goal, story, images, video)
-Identify 5–10 ambassadors
Launch Week:
-Post your first announcement
-Send personalized messages to key supporters
-Thank donors publicly on social media
Mid-Campaign:
-Share a progress update and reminder to give
-Post a behind-the-scenes photo or story
Final Push (last 3 days):
-Create urgency: “Just 48 hours left!”
-Ask ambassadors to re-share
After Campaign Ends:
-Share impact
