An important year

This year marks two important anniversaries. The US Air Force celebrated its 75th Anniversary on September 18th and Air Force ROTC Detachment 675 celebrated its 70th Anniversary of operations at the University of Oklahoma on October 10th. Since 1952, Detachment 675 has trained some of the best and brightest University of Oklahoma students to become high-quality Air Force officers and leaders after graduation. Detachment 675 alumni have served, and continue to serve, their country in numerous career fields. Today, this tradition continues at the University of Oklahoma.

Donations are applied to...

In celebration of the U.S. Air Force and AFROTC Detachment 675 anniversaries, you have the opportunity to support this campaign by contributing to the Galand Kramer Leadership Endowed Fund, a fund established by OU alumni and friends to honor Lt. Col. Galand Kramer's leadership and accomplishments. Your contributions to this fund will directly support AFROTC Detachment 675 by providing for programming needs, travel to leadership symposia and training opportunities, equipment, and scholarship for AFROTC cadets.

Thank you for your support!

Special thanks to an anonymous donor who has pledged to match up to $100,000 in support of the Galand Kramer Leadership Endowed Fund. Because of their generosity, gifts to this campaign will be matched dollar for dollar until the match limit is reached. We hope that you will join them in changing lives of OU AFROTC students. If you would like to make a gift in support of this match without using this page, please call Dana McCrory at (405) 914-4977 or dmccrory@ou.edu. This campaign has already received such generous support from alumni and donors like you. Your support has empowered us to raise the goal for funds raised for AFROTC students via this campaign.

About Lt. Col. Kramer's life and service

Lt. Col. Galand Kramer, USAF (ret), is a 1964 graduate of OU who earned his commission in the U.S. Air Force through AFROTC Detachment 675. He became a pilot, was shot down on a combat mission over Vietnam, and was made a Prisoner of War (POW) in 1967. During his captivity, he established and maintained communications with fellow POWs that improved their morale and unified their resistance to the enemy’s harassment and brutal treatment. Kramer was released from captivity during Operation HOMECOMING in February 1973 after more than six years as a POW. After a brief hospitalization to recover from prolonged captivity, Kramer continued his distinguished active duty career as a test pilot, squadron commander and instructor before retiring from the U.S. Air Force in November 1984. He worked as a logistics program manager for Northrup Grumman until permanently retiring in 2000. Earlier this month, Kramer was honored with a Regents Alumni Award and was announced as an inductee into the Oklahoma Military Hall of Fame.
